The SPNKR-x17 Surface-Surface Missile Launcher is the one of the last weapons obtained by the Security Officer, and most powerful weapon used by the Security Officer during the Battle of Tau Ceti.
Design details
This shoulder mounted rocket launcher holds two Surface-to-Surface High Explosive rockets in each tube. It fires its payload at at a velocity of 110 m/s, with an effective range of 2500 meters.
The blast radius of these rockets is 10 meters.[1]
Legacy
The SPNKR used aboard the UESC Marathon would go on to inspire Durandal's own variant, the SPNKR-XP SSM Launcher.[2]
Notes
- The SPNKR name would go on to be used for a series of rocket launchers in Halo, although its design would be based on the Marathon 2 and Infinity variant instead of the design used in the first Marathon game.
- The original SPNKR was nicknamed the Lazyboy as its missiles 'sit' in the launcher, but the nickname did not stick in the later next two games as the design changed.
- The weapon appears in Colony Ship for Sale, Cheap! but is not accessible.[3]
